Collection: Abu Garcia

Along the Mörrum River in Svängsta, Sweden, in 1921, Carl August Borgström established AB Urfabriken. Initially specializing in the production of pocket watches, telephone timers, and taxi meters, Borgström showcased his adeptness in light precision engineering, honed during his tenure at the Halda watchmaking factory. However, the onset of World War II precipitated a downturn in demand for taxi meters. Undeterred, ABU pivoted its expertise toward crafting precision fishing reels, garnering acclaim from anglers worldwide. This pivot proved so successful that Abu Garcia was later granted the prestigious title of "Purveyor To The Royal Swedish Court," an accolade reserved for manufacturers consistently surpassing the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
