Hello everyone,
I'm Henry Nguyen, founder of Baitcast Bearings. My passion for the fishing and marine industry stems from my deep love for the outdoors. Growing up, my mother was the one who truly adored fishing, often joining my dad and me on early morning trips across Ontario, Canada spending countless nights fishing for Catfish and crappies. Their shared love for fishing instilled in me a lifelong passion for the sport.
During my teenage years, I had the opportunity to work at Trombly's Tackle Box in Orillia. After school, I would bike to the shop and eventually earned the trust of the owners, allowing me to open the bait shop on weekends and assist fellow anglers in getting out on the water. It was during my time at Trombly's that I was introduced to leading companies like Shimano and Abu Garcia, and I found great joy in showcasing the latest fishing rods and reels to our customers.
I also delved into the world of tournament fishing when I joined my first B.A.S.S club in Muskoka. As a young enthusiast, I thought I knew everything there was to know about fishing. However, I quickly realized that there's always more to learn, and I continue to be humbled each time I step onto someone else's boat for a fishing excursion.
As I pursued various career opportunities, my passion for fishing remained unwavering. In 2009, I began my career with Legend Boats and was fortunate enough to secure sponsorships from esteemed brands such as Legend Boats, Humminbird, Minn Kota, and Garmin.
The inception of Baitcast Bearings was born out of my desire to give back to the industry that I hold dear to my heart. We invest our hard-earned dollars in our fishing gear, and it's crucial to protect our investments. Baitcast Bearings isn't just about offering bearing upgrades for your reels; it's a platform where you can send in your reels for maintenance, ensuring that you can continue to enjoy every cast. After all, the performance of your reel is only as good as the maintenance it receives.
